The Race2Space competition has ignited passion among UK university students as they design, build, and test rocket propulsion systems. Sheffield University’s SunFire III engine earned the Best Overall Engine Performance award, demonstrating remarkable advancements.

Spotlight: Aftershock II by USC Rocket Propulsion Lab

Following the lessons learned from Aftershock I, USC’s Aftershock II aims to break student and amateur rocketry's speed and altitude records. The team is pushing for an apogee of 490,000 feet and a velocity of 5,600 ft/s. Stay tuned as Aftershock II takes flight in 2024.

Introducing the Open Space Launch Foundation
The Open Space Launch Foundation (OSLF) is now in full swing and an integral part of the Meco Rocket Simulator project. This non-profit foundation keeps core technologies like LorenLib open-source, ensuring long-term sustainability and collaboration.

Recently, the OSLF partnered with the University College London (UCL) Rocket and Sheffield University Sunride Teams, preparing to use LorenLib in its Race2Space UK 2025 competition.
